OnlineRaceDriver is dedicated to all forms of virtual motorsport, across any device. We’re passionate about racing games, from hardcore competitive sim racing to more casual arcade titles.
Sim racing is a great way to experience the thrills of motorsport if you can’t afford the expensive real world option. Or as a way to potential build your skills into getting a professional drive by making a name for yourself online, or in specific competitions and tourments.
We want to help as many people as possible enjoy themselves racing online, by offering tips, advice, the latest news and updates, buying guides and a friendly community of fellow drivers and racers.
‘Racing is life, everything else is just waiting’ – Steve McQueen
The OnlineRaceDriver team:
Dan Thornton: Experienced in both sim racing, and as an automotive journalist for almost 20 years. He began competitive virtual motorsport with Forza Motorsport in various leagues and series before eventually migrating to the PC, currently focusing on iRacing, with some Assetto Corsa Competizione and RaceRoom. And occasionally in other games, including returning to the Xbox for Forza, or chilling out in Euro Truck Sim 2 and American Truck Simulator.
Along with ORD content, you can find him occasionally streaming as BadgerGravling, running his own content and marketing business at TheWayoftheWeb, and also indulging his passion for motorcycling at Rescogs.com.
Sim Racing Rig:
Custom Chillblast Fusion Scimitar running an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and GeForce GTX 2060 G GB with a Thrustmaster TMX Pro wheel and T3PA pedals.
Xbox One with a standard Xbox controller.
26+ retro gaming computers and consoles, from the 48K Spectrum and Atari 2600 to the PS3, Xbox 360 and everything in-between.
Contributors:
GTDon – The token American, Don founded the premier unofficial Forza racing community, the IFCA. He was also an expert content provider for the official FM3 guide for Prima Games. He’s one of the biggest experts on Forza, which is ironic since he’s such a fan of Gran Turismo (Hence the GT!).
TomBowker – Our PC specialist, if he can ever get a fast enough computer and enough time to stage a real-time, full grid Formula One GP series.
Wren: He’s slowly being converted from a World of Warcraft fan to a racing enthusiast. We’ll keep using a big pointy stick on him until he gives in.
Kalps: Kalps is an expert in games which involve shooting people. Not much help when it comes to writing about racing games, but it does come in handy if we need a rival driver assasinated.
Support OnlineRaceDriver:
We appreciate everyone who visits OnlineRaceDriver.com. But if you want to go a bit further in supporting our ambition to be the best sim racing website and community, then there are some quick things you can do…

We’re always happy to see our logo and url being shared as sponsor decals by virtual racers. So if you’d like to recreate our logo and put it on your car, let us know – we’ll help if we can, and also share any in-game creations on the site as well.
If you’re already a keen livery designer in any racing title, from Forza and Gran Turismo to iRacing and rFactor, then we’d love to feature your work alongside any ORD creations you want to share.

Advertising/Affiliates on OnlineRaceDriver:
Running OnlineRaceDriver takes a large amount of time and effort, as well as hosting costs and other spending. Especially trying to afford all the latest cars and tracks for as many titles as possible.
And eventually, we’d like to be able to support the full-time staff we need to do all the sim racing coverage and ideas we want to develop for the future.
As a result, we fund ourselves through advertising, affiliate links, sponsorships or donations. And we’re always looking for the best ways to do this without taking anything away from our coverage.
Advertising can be supplied on a monthly tenancy basis, reaching thousands of sim racing fans a month. For prices, email onlineracedriver at googlemail.com.
Affiliate links are used where appropriate throughout the site to make a few pennies if you buy a game, wheel or pedal set as a result, without costing you anything.
Site sponsorships, and sponsored content are also possible, as long as any partners are highly relevant to sim racing. So real world motorsport, sim racing hardware, racing games, PC parts etc are all possible.
Want to hire us to write content for your site? Contact us via TheWayoftheWeb for all your freelance sim racing journalism.
