With the last major content release in December 2024 adding the start of a new Rally Mode, now BeamNG tease rally pace notes for their next update. Over the last month they’ve shared a number of teaser images and videos, including a rally stage timing post, road ciruits, and a performance index for cars. And now co-drivers could be included when you go rallying.
The audio sounds pretty good and realistic, and will definitely be helpful when you’re taking on any really stages. A previous mod used AI-generated notes to build on the fairly simple Rally Mode content added in update 0.34, with the three stages of SS Clyde Peak, SS Fastello-Norte and SS Howlers Pass. But this should be a step up in terms of immersion, especially if more stages are being added.
In other recent news, the BeamNG team have stated that they’re ending support for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1, which is around 0.06% of the current player base. And with the arrival of BeamNG.drive version 0.36, they’ll also discontinue support for Ubuntu 20.04. If you’re using those older operating systems, then the game will still work, but you’ll lose future updates, content and customer support.
The update should be arriving in the near future, and a remaster of the Hiroshi Sunburst car has also been revealed, with audio of a flat four Boxer engine clearly recognisable.
