If you need to minimise the space taken up by your sim racing rig, or just don’t want to keep knocking into a full-sized shifter getting in and out of your seat, the compact new Heusinkveld MagShift Mini is now available.
The smaller size and supplied U-shaped mounting bracket also mean you have a lot more options for mounting the MagShift Mini. Including the bracket, it measures just 5.75cm wide, 9.15cm deep, and 16.9cm tall. That makes it much smaller than something like the entry-level H-pattern Thrustmaster TH8S shifter, for example. And in the past, I’ve tried mounting the TH8S on the main bracket of my GT Omega stand only to find it’s too wide to sit alongside my wheelbase. But the smaller width of the MagShift Mini would fit perfectly, especially being able to adjust the yaw by rotating the bracket, and with three tilt positions to get the right placement.

It may be small, but the MagShift Mini should be reliable with a steel construction and heavy-duty aluminium shift knob, and a magnetic shift system using opto-electronic sensors to detect shifting so it doesn’t wear on the electronics.
The adjustable shift system can set strengths for both upshifts and downshifts between 4 and 8kg,a nd if you’re using the Heusinkveld SmartControl software, you can set up to four fully customisable outputs using the lever. I know some sim racers who would enjoy flashing their lights on every upshift, for example.

By comparison, the normal-sized MagShift features three extra buttons in the base and can handle peak force between 4.5 and 11kg. But it’s also 36.2 to 37.7cm high, wider and comes in at €445.28. The smaller MagShift Mini is priced at €256.86, making it a much more affordable option, relatively speaking.
If you’re shopping for a shifter which has Heusinkveld quality but don’t want to commit the space or budget for the MagShift, then the MagShift Mini definitely seems like an option which will deliver fairly similar performance and functionality.
You can order the new Heusinkveld MagShift Mini directly from their website, along with optional angled and vertical mounts, or a table clamp. Or you can find Huesinkveld products from various retailers, including Demon Tweeks.
