If you fancy driving something different and a little crazy then you’re in luck with Super Trucks teases for Automobilista 2. The very short clip on social media shows a number of them landing from a jump, ending with the promise they’re coming soon.
It’s not clear whether they’re official replicas of the vehicles used in Stadium Super Trucks, a series invented by former NASCAR racer Robby Gordon. It’s proved popular in the United States, Canada and Australia, using short street courses and circuits. Especially when 17 feet long and 2’8″ high aluminium ramps are added to the tracks, with the trucks hitting them around 70mph. It’s often a support race for other events including IndyCar and NASCAR, but standalone events are also held

The real world trucks are powered by a 600hp Chevrolet LS V8 engine, with a steel-tube frame and fibreglass body. Weighing in at 1,300kg, they can reach up to 140mph, and vehicles are usually assigned to drivers each race weekend via a random draw.
Stadium trucks have appeared in various games, including Project CARS 3, and the original Automobilista. A replica of Robby Gordon’s 2013 truck also appeared in Forza Horizon 2 as part of the Storm Island expansion. It’ll be interesting to see whether Reiza Studios spend a lot of time adapting existing tracks to suit the new trucks, especially after the big effort and changes put into releasing update 1.6 for Automobilista 2 towards the end of 2024, which brought a lot of physics updates, IMSA cars etc.
