The award for Best Racing Game of 2024 has gone to Codemasters and Electronic Arts, as EA Sports F1 24 wins at the 2025 D.I.C.E Awards.
Hosted by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS), the annual awards have been going since 1998, with more than 33,000 AIAS members voting to select the winners from the final list of nominees. And along with being the main gaming awards voted on by the industry rather than public votes, it’s also one of the few which doesn’t just lump racing games in with general sports titles.
As a result, F1 24 was up against another official licensed franchise in MotoGP 24 from Milestone, and also Night-Runners Prologue, a Japanese street racing title developed by Planet Jem after getting funding through Kickstarter.

For reference, other new racing and driving titles released in 2024 included Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Le Mans Ultimate, Heading Out, World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing 24, Hot Lap Racing, Taxi Life, Golden Lap and F1 Manager 2024 among others.
The history of DICE does seem to favour the biggest titles, with the most recent winners including Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo 7, Forza Horizon 5, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit and Mario Kart Tour, along with the previous entries in all those series. Although it’s the first win for Electronic Arts since Need for Speed: Most Wanted back in 2012, and the first time the official F1 series has made it past being a final nominee.
That’s not to overlook the hard work and results put into the F1 series by Codemasters, and this release did include an all-new driver career mode and challenge career, along with the slightly more contentious dynamic handling model.
Racing games didn’t appear in any other categories, with Game of the Year going to Astro Bot, Online Game of the Year to Helldivers 2, MLB The Show 24 taking Sports Game of the Year, and Balatro winning Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year.
F1 2024 is available for the PC at £59.99 for the Standard Edition or £79.99 for the Champions Edition on Steam, Epic Games Store and the EA App. For the PlayStation 4 and 5, it’s £69.99 for the Standard Edition on the PlayStation Store, or £89.99 for the Champions Edition on the PlayStation Store. And the same prices apply for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S with the Standard Edition and Champions Edition Microsoft Store listings. You can get a discount on all the console editions with EA Play membership.
