After the series took a break for 2024, Monster Energy Supercross 25 will launch in April 2025 for the PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
Early Access will be available from April 7th, with the full release on April 10th. It’s once again developed by Milestone, who have worked on the series since it debuted in 2018. This will be the seventh Supercross game released, and follows a break in 2024 which saw officially-endorsed DLC released for MX vs ATV Legends instead, developed by fellow Embracer studio Rainbow Studios.

The reason for the break hasn’t been officially announced, but for the comeback, Monster Energy Supercross 25 will be using an updated version of the existing Unreal Engine 5 code, as revealed by Game Director Sebastiano Stefanetto in an article on Xbox Wire. In that piece, he refers to a ‘biannual development plan’, but it’s not confirmed whether that was a one-off schedule for this game, or if the Supercross titles will be released every two years in the future as well.
Some of the benefits of the longer development cycle and UE5 upgrades include dynamic tracks which will change as they’re ridden during races, a neural AI system for your opponents, and a new career mode apparently utilising that AI as you become part of the Supercross universe, which means a ‘dynamic system full of challenges and tests’.
Milestone have also been working with the creators and community around the Supercross game which has led to more fluid and realistic rider animations, a new bike balance system to improve the handling, and a rebuild of the riding physics from scratch, looking at the steering angle, traction and tyre-to-ground contact, and completely reworking the in-air physics and control system for full control of in-air motion.
Having a release date slightly later in the year than previous games means that you’ll have access to the riders, bikes and tracks from the current ongoing season at launch, which has been made possible by Milestone accessing the blueprints of the circuits in advance. Which means you, and real riders, will be able to try tracks ahead of them being raced in the real champsionhip finals.
