After iRacing moved into publishing console racing games with the original World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing back in 2022, you can play the sequel on your PC with World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing 24 Gold Edition now on Steam.
The obvious question is why you’d buy a separate title when iRacing is available on the PC and includes dirt racing with the same cars and tracks? One key difference is that World of Outlaws isn’t a subscription-based game, which is a common criticism when it comes to the cost of iRacing.
More reasons for considering World of Outlaws, even if you’re happy with iRacing, is that it includes a full single player Career Mode spanning 11 series, along with the Outlaw Challenges mode which gives you tips from real racer Donny Schatz, and currently iRacing doesn’t have AI-enabled dirt racing available.
So if you’re looking for a single-player dirt racing experience, or a way to practice your skills without other human drivers around, World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing 24 Gold Edition could make sense. Plus, you don’t have to wait for official races to appear on the iRacing schedule if you fancy a quick track session.
Developed by Monster Games, and following on from the previous console releases, it’s not an exact match with iRacing in terms of graphics options. But if you want a more simcade experience or you’re a big dirt racing enthusiast, and you’re not looking for iRacing-level handling and simulation, then it’s certainly a viable alternative.

It’ll be interesting to see how many PC sim racers decide to pick up World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing 24 Gold edition. As someone who spends a lot of time on iRacing but doesn’t race a lot on the dirt selection, I’m considering picking it up. Partly because it’s a way into World of Outlaws racing without going up against people who have more experience, and also because I’ll often jump into a racing game with a controller for a quick blast when I have 30 minutes to spare, even with my sim rig permanently set up next to me.
The Gold Edition includes all standard content, and the Season Pass, which currently includes 51 tracks, and 11 series. So you get World of Outlaws Sprint Car, Late Models, Super DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds, Micro Sprints and seven more to choose from. That version is usually priced at £54 on consoles, so it’s slightly cheaper at £41.99 on Steam. Ultimately, it would be great to see the game become available on PC GamePass to potentially entice a lot more people to try it out.
World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing 24 Gold Edition is available for the PC via Steam. The Standard and Gold Editions are also available for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, and the PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation Store. On the Switch, you’ll have to stick to the previous World of Outlaws ’23 Edition via the Nintendo eShop.
