It’s safe to say that Test Drive Unlimted Solar Crown as experienced a few issues since launching, and it’ll be heading into maintenance mode from 8.30am UTC on Wednesday January 29th, 2025, as the latest TDU Solar Crown update will add a new PC anti-cheat system.
It will introduce the SARD Anti-Cheat, and apparently the team at KT Racing have been working with SARD for a few months to adapt their technology. As a result, the Race and Time Attack leaderboards will be reset. And there will be periodic resets in the future as race restrictions and car performance are adjusted over time.
SARD is a relatively new company, having started integrating their product into games in 2022. Some of the titles using it include Ragnarok, APB Reloaded, Aion Classic, Silk Road Online, Soldier One, and Magic to Master. So it’s a bit hard to know how it will work for a racing MMO until it’s been in place for a while.
There will also be bug fixes, which aren’t specified at the moment. But it appears that the Clan War feature which was originally planned for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown Season 3 in March will now be postponed to allow KT Racing to prioritise gameplay improvements and other new features.
You should still get a new Solar Pass, new competitive season and live events as outlined in the Year 1 Roadmap shared after launch.
The update follows on from a free Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown weekend for the Xbox Series X|S, and it’ll be interesting to see what other steps KT Racing and publishers Nacon will do to reduce issues and boost player numbers in the future.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is available for the PC via Steam, the Xbox Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, and the PS5 via the PlayStation store. Keep up with the latest Test Drive Unlimited news, updates and more, here.
