I can’t remember ever trying the Burnin’ Rubber series, but it’s done well enough for a sixth instalment, with Burnin’ Rubber 6 announced for release in 2025. It’ll arrive for the PC via Steam, developed by Xform Games, who have been around since 2004.
The Dutch team have previously released Race Day Rampage: Streamer Edition for broadcasting community races, Traffic Slam, and Rally Point, with a mix of browser, mobile and PC projects.
You’ll be able to battle AI opponents in a single player campaign and the Tournament of Champions with the combat racing allowing you to pick from more than 50 vehicles and 30 unique weapons. But there are also six open worls to explore, with special free-roaming challenges, alongside a selection of over 60 tracks and the ability to create your own with the level editor.
You can unlock and collect skins to also customie your car as you take on boss battles to reach the final end challenge. And Burnin’ Rubber 6 also includes split-screen mode for local multiplayer.
The previous game in the series, Burnin’ Rubber 5, was originally released in the mid 2010s, and there’s a HD version published via Steam for the PC back in 2018 currently priced at £7.19, with a Very Positive review score.
Arcade car combat games can be fun, especially if you need to unwind after a stressful sim racing session. And given that Xform have been around for a long time, making browser games that need to instantly capture people, it should be easy to jump into. Whether the handling and battles are engaging enough to keep you hooked will become apparent next year.
No price or exact release date has been announced yet, but you can wishlist Burnin’ Rubber 6 on Steam, and you’ll be able to keep up with the latest Burnin’ Rubber 6 news, here.
