There’s a new and affordable alternative to deskmounting your sim racing wheel and pedals, with the new NEXT Level Racing Wheel Stand LITE 2.0 launched for £129. Not only does it easily fold up when not in use, but along with the existing cradle to keep gaming chairs in place under braking, a cockpit kit will be available later in 2024 if you want to upgrade your setup.
The original Wheel Stand Lite has been around for a while, with a single central column for mounting your wheelbase. The new version swaps this for a two column frame won’t interfere with heel and toe techniques. And as you’d expect, you can adjust the height, distance and angle of the stand, and particularly the pedal plate slots, so your throttle, brake and clutch are in the right position.
The new Next Level Racing Wheel Stand LITE 2.0 supports wheelbases up to 10NM, which should cover most entry and mid-level direct drive options. And there’s also space for a gearshifter or hrandbrake, with the included gear shifter plate support, that can be mounted on either side of your wheelbase.
One of the big benefits of a wheel stand is if you have limited space and need to move your sim set-up out of the way on a regular basis. The foldable design allows you to keep everything mounted, so it’s quick and easy to get ready to race, and to put it away afterwards.
The other notable change to wheel stands has been the option to turn them into a full cockpit via add-ons. And the Wheel Stand LITE 2.0 is a welcome addition to this trend, with the Victory Seat Add-on planned for release later in 2024, allowing you to turn it into a permanent and solid sim racing cockpit rather than having to invest in an entirely new set-up.
Next Level Racing do already offer the foldable Formula Lite Pro and GT Lite Pro cockpits, so it’d make sense for the cockpit add-on to take the total cost to somewhere around the same price (they’re currently £279). But the big advantage of the LITE 2.0 is that you can get started for £129, and a decent wheel stand will be much more stable than a desk mount, along with adding a lot of adjustability, and a little bit more immersion for your sim racing.
You can find the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand LITE 2.0 for sale directly from the company. And it’ll probably be stock soon through various retailers, including Currys and Overclockers.
