Announced back in 2021, open-world racing game CarX Street is now available on Steam for PC gamers at the relatively low price of £14.99.
Developed by CarX Technologies, who also released CarX Drift, it’s been a popular title on mobile devices for a while. And now it has come to PC with the fictional location of Sunset City and the surrounding areas, as you become part of the StreetNET network for underground racers. One difference is that the mobile version is free with microtransactions.
There is some launched DLC, with the Deluxe Cars Pack for £7.99, which includes the 30ZC,S90C, M92C, M39, S65 and Z40, which isn also bundled in the CarX Street Deluxe Edition costing £16.08.
Along with exploring the world, you can complete discovery quests to transport cars and parts, earn drifting points in while cruising around, or take part in races, including challenging the bosses of various clubs located around Sunset City.

Multiplayer modes include just cruising around, Speed League online races against five opponents, Battle Mode 1v1 races, and Case Mode to try and outrun a pursuer. And as you might expect, there are options for tuning and customising the look of your car.
Plans for future updates over the coming years include a full and complete storyline, new locations and playable areas, more single and multiplayer modes and activities, along with graphical enhancements.
Open world driving games have had a resurgence recently, with Forza Horizon 5 being joined by Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown, JDM: Japanese Drift Master, The Crew: Motorfest and Rev to Vertex to name but a few. It’s always good to have some choice, and to see which titles build up a critical mass of players, which is always key for online open world multiplayer titles.
