Another toy car racing game will arrive soon, with Hot Wheels Monster Trucks: Stunt Mayhem due for October 2024 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
In a slightly odd move, it’s been developed with GameMill Entertainment, rather than Milestone, who worked on both Hot Wheels Unleashed games, and are currently about to release Monster Jam Showdown. Possibly that agreement may have blocked the Italian developers from producing another monster truck title so close, but either way, this game is coming from the people who were previously involved in NASCAR Arcade Rush, NHRA Speed for All, and ironically, Monster Jam Crush It! from 2016, all developed by Team 6 Game Studios. Hot Wheels Monster Trucks: Stunt Mayhem is being developed by 3D Clouds, a Milan based studio (like Milestone), who most recently worked on PAW Patrol: Grand Prix.
With that in mind, apparently Mattel’s Erika Winterholler believes “Our partners at GameMill are well suited to deliver an authentic Hot Wheels Monster Trucks experience, bringing these iconic vehicles to players to enjoy together on all major gaming platforms.”
Which involves official Hot Wheels Monster Trucks including Bone Shaker, Tiger Shark, Race Ace, Bigfoot and more, able to face off against bosses including Crushzilla, performing stunts including flips, spins and jumps. Apparently each truck also has a unique signature stunt move.
You’ll be able to compete in a range of arenas, including the Stunt Zone by Night and Skelesaurus’s Lair. And one positive feature already confirmed is local split-screen multiplayer, although no online features are mentioned yet.
Hot Wheels Monster Trucks: Stunt Mayhem is released on the 18th October 2024, and you’ll be able to find it on Steam for the PC, on the PlayStation Store for the PS4 and PS5, the Microsoft store for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo eShop for the Switch. You can also already order physical copies from Amazon for the Switch and PlayStation 5 at a price of £34.99.
