There’s not a lot of new information available, but you can see some of the tricks you’ll be able to perform with a new Monster Jam Showdown freestyle trailer released by developers Milestone.
It does show the combo system that will be used to build up your score as you perform backflips, wheelies, donuts, bicycles and more.
The tricks look like fun, with the choice of using official competitions or in any of the themed environments to demonstrate your skills, and the promise of tutorials to explain how to tackle each stunt.
The arena locations will also include destructible objects, which also contribute to keeping your combo multiplier going.
The live events and television show are operated by Feld Entertainment, with the videogame series originally beginning in 2002 with Monster Jam: Maximum Destruction. Over the course of 22 years, the license has passed from Ubisoft to Activision, GameMill and finally THQ Nordic, with Rainbow Studios developing the two Monster Jam Steel Titans games. Monster Jam Showdown is the 11th title in the series, and the first developed by Milestone.
It’ll be interesting to see what Milestone bring to the series, given their experience of developing motorcycle games, including the official MXGP and Supercross titles, along with the arcade racing of the Hot Wheels Unleashed series.
Monster Jam Showdown will be available for the PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, the Xbox One and Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, the PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation Store, and the Switch via the Nintendo eShop. Physical editions are also listed for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, with Game offering an exclusive Day One edition including the Law and Disorder Pack.
