With a launch due for PC and consoles on August 29th, 2024, there’s a new Just In Monster Jam Showdown trailer released to build the excitement for the first game in the series to be developed by Milestone.
There’s not a lot of new info in the 30 second clip, although it does feature some of the licensed trucks which haven’t previously been shown. The accompanying press info does reveal that Early Access will be available from August 26th on the PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
We’ve previously written about the launch announcement, but along with a little more detail about the Freestyle stunt mode with moves including wheelies, donuts and bicycles, the off-road races will apparently include destructible objects, extreme weather, ‘crazy’ tracks and boosts, leaning more towards an arcade experience.
And in one bit of good new information, there’s going to be local split-screen, which is always a welcome feature in any arcade or fun racing game. There’s no indication whether it will be for two or four local players beyond a reference to ‘thilling duels’ which suggests two player split-screen competition, but either would be good.
Monster Jam Showdown will be available for the PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, the Xbox One and Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, the PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation Store, and the Switch via the Nintendo eShop. Physical editions are also listed for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, with Game offering an exclusive Day One edition including the Law and Disorder Pack
