Already working in collaboration with Strelka games on management title Golden Lap, is Funselektor Labs teasing a new off-road game?
The company founded by Dune Casu has finished all planned content releases for Art of Rally and has said it will be focusing on new games. It was easy to assume that referred to the minimalist motorsport management and strategy of Golden Lap, but now the Funselektor social media account has shared an intriguing image accompanied by a Japanese symbol used to indicate learner drivers or the status of a beginner.
The shadow outline looks like a Land Rover Defender with overlanding kit mounted on the roof, suggesting that it might be more of an exploration or off-road game than Art of Rally and Absolute Drift.
And Funselektor previously teased Golden Lap with an image back in 2022, so it might be some time before we find out exactly what the new game might be.
An exploration-type game could definitely be worth checking out, given how much fun it was to drive the cars in Art of Rally’s free roam mode. Add mixed terrain and things to discover beyond a set of letters, and there’s a good potential to lose yourself in the distinctive art style that Funselektor is slowing establishing.
In the meantime, you can still pick up their first title, Absolute Drift, from 2015, and Art of Rally, which was originally launched in 2020. Given the five year intervals between titles, it might make sense for a new, entirely Funselektor Lab game to appear in 2025.
You can also buy Art of Rally on Steam for the PC here, the Microsoft Store, the PlayStation Store, or the Nintendo eShop for the Switch here. And you can also check out the latest Art of Rally news and updates.
Absolute Drift: Zen Edition is also available for the PC via Steam, the Xbox One via the Microsoft Store, the PS4 via the PlayStation Store, and the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop. It’s also available as a mobile game via the iOS App Store.
And you can wishlist Golden Lap for the PC on Steam now, with a release date planned for some time in 2024.
