You’ll soon be able to immerse yourself in off-road all-terrain driving with MudRunner VR announced for Meta Quest virtual reality headsets.
Rather than converting the original 2017 title, or the latest Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, there’s an all-new adventure for MudRunner VR with a selection of eight all-terrain vehicles available to use in either Story or Free Play modes.
If you’re familar with the series from Saber Interactive (which also includes SnowRunner), the challenge of exploring and completing objectives will be pretty familiar. But there are new 3D models for the trucks and environments, with players now able to not only interact with the cockpits of each vehicle, but actually get out to attach the winch, refuel and more.
There’s no detail on how far you can wander from your vehicle, but actually hooking your winch around a suitable point will definitely feel a little more involving than clicking randomly around you to try and pull yourself out of a difficult situation. Although it might be a bit more difficult to quickly attach yourself to something when disaster is about to strike.
You can also work the manual gearboxes, turn the ignition key and use the buttons in each truck, which will certainly help you feel more involved.
MudRunner VR is available now to wishlist via the Meta Store, and will launch soon for the Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest Pro. There’s no word on other VR platforms at the moment, but the combination of VR with a wheel, pedal and gearshifter set-up would certainly be fun.
And if you fancy picking up the original MudRunner, it’s still available via Steam and the Epic store for PC, the Microsoft Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and the PlayStation Store for PS4.
