The first game in the series to be developed by Milestone, Monster Jam Showdown will launch on August 29, 2024, with Early Access coming three days earlier on the 26th. It’s being released for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
Along with the release date for Monster Jam Showdown, it’s also been revealed that Gave Digger and Megalodon will be the cover stars for the game, from the selection of 66 officially licensed trucks which will be included (40 in the base game and 26 as free or paid DLC).
The most recent titles in the series were Monster Jam Steel Titans and its sequel, developed by Rainbow Studios via fellow Embracer publisher THQ Nordic, but Showdown will arrive from Milestone and publisher Plaion which is something a bit different for an Italian developer more usually focused on two wheels outside of the two Hot Wheels Unleashed games.
The game will feature 10 different game modes with both online multiplayer and split-screen options available depending on the type of competition you select. The modes will be head-to-head, freestyle, treasure hunting, circuit racing, best trick, survivor, horde, figure 8 racing, extreme head-to-head and extreme freestyle.
And if you’re a fan of monster trucks wondering what other vehicles might be included, the copyright information lists names including Alian Invasion, Backwards Bob, Blue Thunder, Captain’s Cure, Digatron, Dragon, Earth Shaker, El Toro Loco, Grave Digger The Legend, Maximum Desctruction, Max D, Mohawk Warrior, Monster Mutt, New Earth Authority Police, Northern Nightmare, Pirate’s Curse, Soldier Fortune, Soldider Fortune Black Ops, Son-Uva Digger, Sparkle Smash, Thunderroarus, Whiplash, Yeti and Zombie. We’ll list all the trucks as they’re revealed on our full Monster Jam Showdown truck list, including DLC post-launch.
Monster Jam Showdown will be available for the PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, the Xbox One and Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, the PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation Store, and the Switch via the Nintendo eShop. Physical editions are also listed for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, with Game offering an exclusive Day One edition including the Law and Disorder Pack
