JDM: Japanese Drift Master was announced in 2023, developed by Polish studio Gaming Factory. And it appears to be gaining momentum towards a 2024 release date, as Japanese Drift Master gets a free prologue and Subaru license.
A free demo version was available at the start of the year, but closed at in early February. But the new Rise of the Scorpion prologue will give you another opportunity to try out the JDM game for nothing.
JDM: Rise of the Scorption will introduce the story followed by the full version of the game, with manga panels connecting the tale of student Hatori “Scorpion” Hasashi and his companions while you race around the scenic Haikama Lake with landmarks and locations which will feature throughout the game, including the Hasashi family estate, and the house of Hatori’s girlfriend Aoi. Other characters include rich friend Ayumi, artistic painter Kaori, and rival Satoru.
Features of the prologue include the day and night cycle, plus dynamic weather which impacts car performance, along with testing new vehicles and racing opponents.
JDM: Rise of the Scorpion is due for release in Summer 2024, and you can add it to your Steam wishlist now.
If that wasn’t enough news, it was immediately followed by the announcement that Subaru is the first manufacturer to sign an official license for their cars to appear in the full JDM: Japanese Drift Master game. And having real cars always adds to the immersion of a title if they’re recreated accurately.
