If you’re intrigued by the narrative-adventure driving game inspired by classic road movies and due out on May 7th, 2024, then you may want to check out this new Heading Out gameplay trailer.
The video reveales more about navigation, managing resources and other details as you try to avoid being stopped by the cops, race other drivers, and interact with the characters you meet during your journey. You’ll need to make sure you have enough cash to fuel up your car regularly and continue to evade the law as a wanted fugitive.
As a lifelong fan of classic road movies, Heading Out is definitely intriguing as something to play alongside more serious sim racing and motorsport titles. The combination of driving with a narrative adventure and trying to evade the law definitely makes me think of classic films like Vanishing Point, Two Lane Blacktop, Gone in 60 Seconds (the original and remake), and more obscure titles of the time like the Grand Theft Auto film, which starred Ron Howard and was his first film as a director.
Heading Out is being developed by Polish studio Serious Sim, and will be published by Saber Interactive, the company which recently split from former parent Embracer Group, and is also home to Expeditions, MudRunner, SnowRunner and Dakar Desert Rally.
It was originally announced back in 2021, with the launch date revealed in February 2024. At present, it’s only arriving for the PC, with no mention of any plans for console versions. But the Steam page does list full support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers as the recommended options for the game.
You can add Heading Out to your wishlist for the PC on Steam. And you can keep up with the latest Heading Out news, release details and updates, here.
