The latest in the long-running licensed monster truck series will be released soon, with Monster Jam Showdown announced for 2024. And in an interesting move, development has been assigned to racing game studio Milestone, with publication through Plaion.

Monster Jam Showdown will utilise Unreal Engine 5 to replicate 66 official Monster Jam trucks, with 40 in the base game, and 26 via free or paid DLC), more than 140 paint outs to unlock, and three categories of venues covering rectangular American Football fields, diamond baseball stadiums and oval speedways. But you’ll also be able to drive in three original environments, with Death Valley, Colorado and Alaska playing host to racing, freestyle and some special events designed for the game.

Claiming to blend arcade gameplay and ‘truthful’ physics, Monster Jam Showdown is coming to the PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. No price or release date has been revealed yet, but it’s not looking too far away judging by the trailer and screenshots.
The change in developer is interesting, as the two most recent titles, Monster Jam Steel Titans (2019) and Monster Jame Steel Titans 2 (2021), were developed by Rainbow Studios and published via THQ Nordic. Both developers and publishers are part of Embracer Group, but Milestone has tended to focus more on motorcycle games alongside the Hot Wheels Unleashed series (which has featured Monster Trucks DLC). But with the MXGP license moving to Kylotonn and MX vs ATV Legends (developed by Rainbow Studios) getting the official Supercross content for 2024, the licensing musical chairs may mean a bit of a refresh for all three franchises.
In any case, you’ll be able to keep up with the latest Monster Jam Showdown news, updates, DLC and more, here. Including when prices, release dates and other information becomes available
