Released to coincide with an update improving the Race Creator and bringing a new Riding School mode, the RIDE 5 Born To Race Pack adds 5 bikes and Vallelunga for £7.99.
The DLC is also part of the RIDE 5 Season Pass, and adds a quintet of motorcycles suited for track use. Two of the examples are particularly rare bikes, produced in limited numbers, or only produced for the Japanese market.
RIDE 5 Born To Race Pack Motorcycles
- 2023 BMW M 1000 RR – Racing Modified
- 2017 Ducati 1299 Superleggera
- 2021 Honda CBR 600RR HRC
- 2021 Honda CBR 600RR HRC – Racing Modified
- 2021 MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR – Racing Modified
While the BMW and MV Agusta are great motorcycles, the two most interesting bikes in the pack are the Ducati and Honda. The 1299 Superleggera was only produced in a limited run of 500 unit. The special features included a monocoque composite carbon fibre chassis, titanium fasteners and Akrapovic exhaust system, magnesium engine casings and carbon wheels. The result is a claimed wet weight of 167kg, compared to 191kg for a standard Ducati 1299 Panigale. And 215 horsepower, compared to the 205hp for the normal version.
As a new bike, the 2017 Ducati 1299 Superleggera would have cost you £72,000, and it’s currently around £55,000 secondhand.
Meanwhile the Honda CBR600 has been around for years, but the 2021 CBR600RR HRC was a limited edition only available from HRCD service shops in Japan and built to a racing specifiction with kit parts including a race ECU and wiring harness, thicker front discs, a race exhaust and more to create a track-only bike. And you’ll get two versions in the RIDE 5 Born To Race Pack, which also includes a full Racing Modified version.
Vallelunga
The DLC also includes the Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi, more commonly known simply as Vallelunga. Located near Rome in Italy, it was originally a sand oval, but became a tarmac circuit six years later, hosting the Rome Grand prix from 1963. It’s also home to sim racing developers Kunos Simulazioni.
It’s used for a variety of car and motorcycle events, including during the 2007 and 2008 World Superbike championship seasons, and the Italian Superike series. Vallelunga has also been used as a test track for Formula One teams, and hosted the FIM Endurance World Championship from 2002 until 2005.
