Originally released in 2022 for the PC by Goati Entertainment, 22 Racing Series gets a big modding and graphics update which should give you a smoother experience at higher resolutions and framers per second, using Intel XeSS Super Samping and AI enhanced upscaling.
Along with plans to launch on consoles in the near future, the open racing ecosystem RaceHub is adding additional modding features, tracks and vehicles, with a suite of tools to help you build new creations. Along with completly customisable race rules to set whatever limits you want.
Another new addition will be vintage barn-find discoveries, which you can restore or customise. Some of the licsened vehicles in the game come from Citroen, DS Automobiles, MG and Austin-Healey, so you can choose to take on the futuristic racing in a classic if you prefer.
And on top of all there, there are also three new game modes, with Synthwave, Darkwave and Art Pop soundtracks. The Flow – Syn x Vertue Synthwave mode adds a classic arcade gameplay for single players, a surivial mode with Syn, and a Capture the Streaker Royal mode.
One interesting thing about 22 Racing Series is that each vehicle has a traceable owner history, mileage and unique license plate. Which is an interesting idea also proposed for Rennsport, but it does involve crypto and NFTs to power it, requiring real money to buy parts.
So far 22 Racing Series has a small number of Mixed reviews on Steam, and the future racing genre isn’t the most popular, with Pacer and Redout 2 the best known recent examples, besides the Wipeout series.
