Bundles can often be a great way to save a few pounds on your sim racing equipment, but the new Thrustmaster T128 SimTask Pack actually costs you more than buying each product separately.
Available now to pre-order, it includes a Thrustmaster T128 wheel and pedals, and a SimTask Steering Kit, which allows you to position everything realistically for driving heavy vehicles and farm equipment, with a rotary steering knob to attach to your wheel. And it costs £249.99.
But if you buy them separately through the Thrustmaster website, the T128 wheel and pedals will cost you £169.99. And the SimTask Steering Kit is available for £69.99. Which adds up to a total of £239.98.
It’s only a £10.01 difference, but that seems a lot to save yourself from adding two items to your basket, especially when it would presumably save Thrustmaster the cost of packaging and sending two items rather than one.
On the plus side, the SimTask Steering Kit is still a great idea, which is compatible with both the T128 and T248 wheels from Thrustmaster. Launched in October 2023, it’s a fairly quick and simple way to get more immersion if you’re driving in a truck or bus simulator, but then switch back to a more normal position when you’re sim racing.
And the T128 is a perfectly decent wheel for beginner or casual sim racers. Good enough that I actually bought a discounted set as a Christmas present for a family member keen to try sim racing, after they’d tried out my current setup.
