Despite the release of The Crew Motorfest in September 2023, it seems developers Ubisoft Ivory Tower are still releasing new content for their previous game, as The Crew 2 adds two new SUVs. Both the 2022 Audi RS Q8 and 2022 Land Rover Defender 110 V8 have arrived in January 2024, in the Street Race class.
This does also mean that both vehicles will also be available in The Crew Motorfest during Season 3, via the Import Collection feature, assuming you already own them in the older game.
The performance version of the Defender with a 110″ wheelbase uses the same supercharged 5.0 litre V8 engine as the Jaguar F-Type, putting out 518hp. In the real world, it’s also available in the smaller 90″ and larger 130″ sizes, with top speeds between 119 and 149mph depending on what you choose. And like all Defenders, you can trace the history of the model back to the original Land Rovers in 1948, although the link gets a bit tenuous with the upmarket modern versions.
Another performance SUV, the RS Q8 was unveiled in 2019 with a 592hp 4.0 litre engine, eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox and a top speed electronically limited to 155.3mph. And the sporty version gets styling include a special grille, larger air intakes, bespoke trim strips and an exhaust.
It’s interesting that the 2018 Crew 2 title is still receiving new content despite the release of The Crew Motorfest. But when the original 2014 game, The Crew, was delisted, Ubisoft revealed that The Crew 2 achieved more than 2 million active monthly players, and over 30 million in total.
The fact it’s available for the PC via Steam (unlike Motorfest which is on the Epic Store and Ubisoft’s own store), along with the Xbox One and PS4 might be justifying continued support until more players switch to the newer title.
The Crew 2 is available for the PC via Steam or the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, or the PlayStation Store for the PS4 and PS5.
