Sim racers will need to use the new User Interface for more of their admin and race hosting as iRacing cuts connection to the Member Site on Jan 16 2024.
While the ‘Legacy Membersite’ will still be available, and usable for account management, the iRacing Store and Gift Cards, Stats and Race Results, the connection to the actual Simulator is being ended. It was originally planned to coincide with the release of 2023 Season 2, but delayed until more of the UI was improved.
New iRacing members probably won’t notice any difference, as the UI has been the default way to jump into races for a while now. But you may need to change your habits if you’re the admin for hosted races and leagues, as you’ll no longer be able to create, view or join those events via the member site.
The League and Team management will also no longer be available, along with managing and viewing friends or studied drivers.
Race results and stats will stay for the time being, but if you use those for an external purposes, you’re encouraged to use the new /data API.
It was an inevitable change as iRacing have obviously invested significant time and effort into creating the new UI as a standalone application rather than a website. And shouldn’t be too much of a hassle once you’ve masted hosting races and events via the new method. The main reason I still use the member site is that stats on the UI have been a bit tempermental, especially in multiclass series, and for the team and event management, so if that all works, everything should be fine.
