Another nice bonus comes to the motorcycle racing game as the new Free Pack 04 for Ride 5 adds a pair of classic superbikes.
First up is the 2006 Honda VTR1000 SP-2 (also known as the RC51, or the RVT1000R in America), which was the second model used to homologate a road motorcycle for competition in World Superbikes. It was introduced in 2002 and took Colin Edwards to his second WSB title that year in an epic battle with Troy Bayliss on a Ducati 998.
Due to rule changes, Honda ended official factory teams in WSB the following year, and eventually returned with the CBR1000RR. But the SP-2 was still produced as a road bike, with a more refined fuel injection system and 4bhp more than the previous model, taking it to 133bhp. And it’s now a very collectable classic due to the exclusivity of the 999cc V-twin capable of 170mph.
The second bike to arrive in Free Pack 04 is the 2009 Aprilia RSV 1000 R. The model was produced from 2004 until 2010, with the R being the standard model (behind the RSV 1000 R Factory), with a V-twin engine putting out 143hp for a top speed of 172mph, and suited more to the race circuit than the road, with a lack of comfort made up by the performance when the roads are smooth and an experienced rider can get the most from it.
