For a small indie dev team, it seems that every possible way to ride a motorcycle will soon be virtually recreated, as a major TrackDayR update 1.0.102.63 adds Flat Track to the sim title.
Having already added motocross and supermoto bikes and circuits to the motorcycle sim, flat track is a logical addition. So the update adds the HFT450F bike, and a category of tracks including Sonora, Woodside Speedway and more to let you race a discipline which has produced a number of American MotoGP stars, and gained a lot of popularity around the world in recent years.
Typically flat track racing takes place on an unpaved oval, but unlike Speedway, riders are allowed brakes, which requires a different cornering technique. It dates back to the 1950s in America, with the Grand National Championship series, and has produced racing legends including Nicky Hayden, Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson, Kenny Roberts, Gary Nixon and more.
It’s a major reason why rear wheel sliding became an essential part of Grand Prix motorcycle riding, as American racers introduced the technique as they moved into road racing.
But that’s not the only change in TrackDayR Update 1.0.102.63, as there are also a range of VFX and postprocessing improvements which make everything look better and more realistic, a different crash system for hard landings, new helmets and suits, improved air physics and loads more.
