It’s been a while since developed ECC Games have released new content, but a new free Drift CE update adds the Takuya track, with some new challenges to take on.
There’s no word on who the route might have been named after, but there are some other fixes and improvements included with the update, including fixes for ‘occasional steering wheel hardware-related’ crashes, and better navigation when you’re in the paint room working on your car.
As a fictional route, Takuya has been inspired by the small mountain towns of Japan, with narrow city streets and long, fast corners in the mountains. And all surrounded by forests, with longer loop through the hills, and a couple of shorter ourban options.
It’s the first update since Drift CE received SteamDeck and Moza Racing wheel support back in October, so hopefully it’s a sign that more new content might be on the way. A roadmap back in August 2023 promised licensed cars with customisable parts in ‘early 2024’, and the last route to be added was the Haruna track in June 2023.
That was also the time when Drift21, originally released back in 2021, was renamed Drift CE as it was ported to consoles. And it would be good to get some more cars added to the current list of 13 real world vehicles from BMW, Ford, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru and Toyota, as the selection is a bit limited. Personally I’d like to see some more oddball choices, like a ‘drift brick’ Volvo (740 estates have become surprisingly popular as drift cars over the years) or a Kei truck.
DriftCE Changelog:

- Other minor bug fixes
