Bike fans should be happy as the RIDE 5 free Pack 03 DLC adds two iconic motorcycles as it becomes available to download for nothing across the PC and console versions of the game.
First up is the 1989 Kawasaki GPZ 900R Ninja, which was the first to use the Ninja name in America. But it’s also more famous among most people by being the bike ridden by Tom Cruise in Top Gun, riding a 1985 model alongside a jet taking off. And when it was launched in 1984, it was the fastest production bike around, with a top speed of around 151-158mph.
The GPZ range was a staple of Kawasaki motorcycles in the 1980s, with models from 250cc to 1100cc.
But the other motorcycle in the pack is arguably more important, as it’s model that pretty much saved Italian manufacturer Ducati. A low cost naked ‘parts bin special’ using most existing parts used on other motorcycles, the 1993 Ducati Monster M900 launched a range still in production 33-years later, originally mounting the V-twin engine in a tubular steel trellis frame.
And with prices of the real original bikes going up in price now, especially for unmodified versions, it’s a good way to experience a motorcycle which transformed urban riding, and also worked on back roads.
It’s definitely the most notable of the three packs released at no cost for RIDE 5, and is an essential download if you own the game.
