Just a few days after the latest changes were released for American Truck Simulator, now Euro Truck Simulator 2 update V1.49 arrives.
It essentially brings the same fairly short list of big improvements to European virtual trucking fans, with the new High Dynamic Range (HDR) skybox featuring a more realistic moon and stars. With reflections, twinkling effects and more to let you enjoy driving in the darkness.
Daytime weather has also been upgraded, with visible lightning due to thunderstorms.
The other big changes are an ehanced damage and repair system, which means you will now have to deal with parts wear requiring you to replace bits of your truck. Along with permanent wear, which needs a total vehicle restoration to reset it.
And this will factor into your buying decisions in the new user truck dealers. You can save money against buying new vehicles, but they’ll come with some mileage and wear. So buying wisely could get you trucking more cheaply. And making a mistake could leave you with an expensive repair bill.
Smaller changes include keybind modifiers, and the option to turn on automatic headlights, along with auto high beams. And anyone with experience in Euro Truck Simulator 2 will probably have incurred multiple fines for not realising it was time to switch on their lights at dusk, so that option will make life much easier. Especially when most modern vehicles have automatic headlight systems as standard now.
Sadly there’s no equivlaent to the PACCAR Technical Centre included in the American Truck Simulator update, but V1.49 should make trucking across Europe much more more picturesque, especially in storms or at night. And it does follow the recent free release of the new DAF XD truck.
