If you haven’t been keeping up with the ESL R1 series, then you may have missed both Daytona and Road Atlana for Rennsport. The American circuits have been the venue for Round 7 and 8 of the championship, which took place on November 3rd and November 10th.
Access to the game is still limited to those with closed beta keys, but a new drop of 15,000 is apparently scheduled for today, Friday November 24th, alongside news of a new car class, with a beta trailer premiering during the Fall Major this evening.
Most people with any interest in sim racing or motorsport will be familiar with the two venues, which are part of the roster for a lot of racing games and sim titles. But considering the fairly small track roster available so far, the two new locations will be much appreciated by those who have access to the closed beta.
Road Atlanta should be arriving in an update today, which also includes improvements to the physics, tyre behaviour, force feedback, and new features including rolling starts. The Daytona oval is apparently being saved for something later. Hopefully the road course will also be included, but there’s no confirmation yet of which configurations will be included for either track.
The other bit of interesting Rennsport news is that is will be the platform for the next season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland.
It’s been a little while since a big update and news, so it’s good to see some fresh progress. And the new car class sounds particularly intriguing. It will be interesting to see whether it’s complimentary to the existing GT3 selection, or something different.
