The new management simulation from Paprikash Games is now available to play as Open Wheel Manager 2 launches on Steam Early Access. It will normally cost £16.75, but you can save 10% until November 1st, 2023, or even more if you also decide to pick up the original in a bundle deal.
As revealed in September, it’s developed by Paprikash Games and published by MicroProse Software, with a roster of 12 playable teams, 42 drivers, 6 engine suppliers, 16 tracks and 5 facilities available to use as you try and achieve motorsport success.
One interesting aspect is that Open Wheel Manager 2 uses “old-school racing management mechanics’, which basically mean whatever AI teams and drivers achieve is due to the same factors and variables which you can impact as a player. So there’s no hidden rubber banding or influence on what happens in the simulation.
Starting in the late 1990s era, you can build a team from the ground up, or take on an existing squad to find sponsors, hire drivers, develop your car and facilities, and either watch the racing via 3D or overhead 2D (or just skip to the results if you prefer).
Young drivers will progress with age and experience, while veterans may be starting to face, so you’ll need to consider the future with your hiring. And key staff might jump to a bigger team if you’re not careful.
The Early Access period is planned to be between six months and a year, with no plans to increase the price at the full release.
