As announced back in the summer, a new boxed Formula Retro Racing World Tour Special Edition is now available in Europe via Numskull Games, and will also launch in North America from December 12th, 2023.
The physical release is available for the Playstation 4 and 5, and the Nintendo Switch, so PC and Xbox owners will have to stick to the digital versions already available. It costs £34.99, and includes six unique new circuits on top of the existing 18 tracks included in the game, plus reverse versions. It’s not been available for the PlayStation 5 until now, but there’s no indication of any development or features specifically for that version.
There still aren’t any more details on the bonus new gameplay and UI features, but you do also get two exclusive stickers featuring game art. But we do have a new trailer, so that’s something, I guess.
The sequel to Formula Retro Racing was once again developed by Leamington Spa-based indie studio Repixel8, and launched for the PC, Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S back in March 2023.
And as you might assume from the trailer and screen shots, it’s a retro 90s-style arcade polygonal racing game, with a variety of modes, online leaderboards and up to four-player split screen.
Formula Retro Racing World Tour is currently available as a digital download for the PC via Steam, the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, the Switch via the Nintendo eShop, and the PS4 via the PlayStation Store. And you can keep up with the latest Formula Retro Racing World Tour news, updates, DLC and more, here.
You can now find the Formula Retro Racing World Tour Special Edition physical boxed release from various retailers, including Amazon.
