Another new car has been confirmed for the racing sim, as the Porsche 911 (992) Cup is teased for Rennsport. It’s apparently arriving soon, and by coincidence a game update is being released on Friday September 22nd, coinciding with round 3 of the current ESL competition.
It will join the selection of GT3s from Audi, BMW and Porsche, and the Praga R1 in the offical Rennsport car roster currently available in the Beta. The Porsche Mission R and 963 LMDh/GTP have also been confirmed, but not yet released for you to drive.
Access still remains limited to the Beta, but it’s slowly continuing to be opened up to more sim racers. And hopefully we’ll see more cars and tracks being added in the near future, as the number of players continues to increase.
The Porsche Cup car has been a popular addition for a range of racing sims and games, being used in the Supercup series and regional championships. Mainly because it offers similar performance to the GT3 R 992, but doesn’t come equipped with ABS or traction control. So it’s challenging car to drive and master.
So you’ll be relying on your right foot to control the 503bhp horsepower from the four litre flat six engine and deliver it all to the rear wheels. Which should help the inexperienced drivers remove themselves from the action fairly quickly, considering the aluminium steel body and lashings of carbon fibre mean the total weight comes in at around 1260kg. So lots of power, light weight and no electronic aids.
Other sims which currently offer the Porsche 911 992 Cup as part of their standard offering, or as additional DLC, include Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, RaceRoom and rFactor 2.
