As part of the 15th Anniversary celebrations since the sim racing service first launched, iRacing will gift credits to active accounts in August 2023.
Each account will receive up to $15, with $1 for every year since it was created. So if you joined up in 2008, you’ll get fifteen dollars, but there’s a minimum of one dollar for everyone, no matter if you’ve only joined iRacing this month. The free credits will be handed out on August 26th, which is 15 years since iRacing launched, and 20 years since the company was founded.
The gift applies to those who signed up via Steam as well as directly with iRacing, and it only takes the original sign-up date into account. So if you took a break and didn’t renew your membership for a while, that won’t impact the gift amount.
It’s a nice gesture of thanks to all iRacing members, and if you created a second or smurf account several years ago, it might be worth bringing it back to life before August 26th. Effectively, if you’ve been a member for around 12 or 13 years, it means you can spend those credits on a new car or track for free. Or just hold onto them to reduce the cost of your next subscription.
And if you’re getting a smaller amount that you don’t have plans for, it might be a good opportunity to try out hosting your own event. It’s fairly cheap to hold your own practice session or race, and means you can use your own choice of cars and track. So if you want compete against your friends using a legacy car or track for fun, then you can give it a try for free.
That’s in addition to the 15 prizes of 1,000 credits being handed out randomly to anyone who has competed at least once in each the four weekly championships running throughout the month. With the final week including the paid Late Model car, you could always use your gift to help fund your entry.
