It’s been a little while sinze Original Fire Games revealed any big updates on their isometric top-down racing game, but that’s all changed with both a Circuit Superstars Switch release and new Top Gear DLC both arriving soon.
Originally planned for release on the Nintendo console in 2022, the Switch launch on June 21st, 2023 should coincide with a new V1.5.0 update across all platforms, although we don’t know exactly what that will include aside from a new Thunder Point Club layout. As part of the new version becoming available, it’s been revealed that all player ranks will be reset, so you can work your way back up alongside the racers on the Switch.
What we do know is that the new Top Gear DLC will arrive at the same time, titled The Stig Challenge.
The Top Gear test track was released as free in the Top Gear Time Attack DLC pack back in October 2021, but this time there will be new content ‘inspired by classic moments of the legendary TV show’. From the trailer video, this includes obstacle courses, caravan racing, threee wheelers, and stunt obstacles including ramps and a half pipe.
The first paid DLC content for Circuit Superstars will be available on all platforms on June 21st, presumably including the Switch along with PC, Xbox and PlayStation versions. No price has been announced yet.
The three wheeled ‘Nugget’ and ‘Indestructible’ truck will only be available if you purchase the DLC, and won’t be available in standard matchmaking lobbies. But if you’re creating a Custom Lobby, then caravans can be enabled for all cars to race with, even for those players who don’t own the DLC.
You can keep up with the latest Circuit Superstars news and updates, here. And Circuit Superstars is available for the PC via Steam, the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, the PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation store, and the Switch via the Nintendo eShop from June 21st, 2023.
