Offering vintage cars and a look reminiscent of GT Legends, new time trial racing game Classic Racers Elite is coming to PC, PS4 and the Switch this Summer.
It’s developed by Vision Reelle, who previously released the original Classic Racers title for the PC in 2019. The new game shares the same approach with a selection of cars and environments set in the 1960s, and simple controls. So don’t go thinking you’ll need the level of knowledge and expertise required for SimBin’s GT Legends.
The Elite version introduces time attack modes to the hill climb experience, using race circuits. And you now get 50 routes including slaloms, reverse options and sections, set in 17 different locations. The car choice covers four categories from the 1960s, with unlicensed but recognisable examples, and there’s an online leaderboard for competition with other drivers to set the best times.
Classic Racers Elite doesn’t include any car customisation aside from picking a livery, no car setups, no online multiplayer racing and no social features. Which in some ways feels like a positive, as you can focus on enjoying your driving rather than worrying about camber settings or being rammed off the road by another racer.
The console releases are the result of a publishing deal with Funbox Media Ltd, which includes physical boxed editions across the EU, ANZ, SA and ME territories, as well as digital releases.
Classic Racers Elite is available as a physical edition pre-order via Funbox Media for the Switch and PS4. It’s also listed for the PC via Steam, the Switch via the Nintendo eShop, and the PS4 via the PlayStation Store. While prices and a release date haven’t been officially released, the eShop has it for £24.99, while the PlayStation Store lists the release on 29th June 2023.
