Japan holds a special place in the hearts of many car fans and racing game enthusiasts. And there may be another way to enjoy it in the near future, with JDM: Japanese Drift Master announced by Gaming Factory.
The Polish publisher has previously released titles including Electrician Simulator, Bug Academy and Castle Flipper, but this appears to be the first effort to create a game themselves. And it sounds like it might have some potential.

Apparently JDM: Japanese Drift Master will combine visual novel storytelling with racing games, as you take the part of a someone arriving in Japan to make a name for himself on the drifting scene. So Tokyo Drift meets Inital D then?
The plot might sound a bit too familiar, but the driving could be more interesting, as there will be miles of diver roads to explore with tourist areas around Lake Haikama, downhill slopes on mountain passes and urban city areas. And along with the day and night cycle, traffic, and weather system, you’ll also be able to visit paint shops and tuners to customise your car
Car sounds have apparently been recorded and implemented specifically for JDM: Japanese Drift Master, so they better be good. And the same applies to the realistic driving physics that “provide nothing but pure amazement” whether you’re using a game controller, steering wheel, or even a keyboard.
I’m not sure using keyboard controls on any driving game could ever make me feel pure amazement, but graphically it looks OK. And if it does a decent job of letting me drift around Japanese in a Supra or Skyline, then that’s probably enough.
It seems Japanese drifting and touge racing are in fashion once again, considering we’ve also recently featured the progress on Rev To Vertex. So it’ll be interesting to see which does the best job of capturing the fun and excitement of JDM cars and tight, twisty mountain roads.
JDM: Japanese Drift Master appears to be developed for the PC only at the moment, and you can wishlist it via Steam or the Epic Games Store. And keep up with all the latest JDM: Japanese Drift Master news, updates, DLC and more, here.
