While the next closed beta for the upcoming sim racing title has been delayed until early 2023, Rennsport tease the Porsche 911 GT3 R 992, with an apparent release date of January 6th, 2023.
Which is good news if you already have access, as it joins the existing 911 GT3 and Mission R, along with the BMW M4 and Audi R8 LMS Evo II GT3 cars. So you’ll get something new to drive while you wait for the game to open up to more sim racers.
Just before Christmas, the team behind Rennsport shared some more details on their forthcoming sim, including the fact some cars, tracks and other features will be available without the subscription required for the full game, and that there will be a rating system for online competition.
The newest evolution of the 911 GT3 gives you around 565hp in a car weighing 1250kg depending on individual series regulations. Power comes from the rear-mounted water-cooled six cylinder boxer motor, through a six-speed sequential gearbox, and gets fed to the tarmac through rear wheel drive.
It debuted in the summer of 2022, with an aluminium-steel composite body and carbon panels, AP brakes, improved suspension and safety features, and high performance LED lights which could provide an advantage during night sections of endurance races. Considering it completed a first test race outing at round 7 of the Nurburgring Endurance Series in October 2022 (and finished in third place), it’s arriving in Rennsport pretty quickly. And before it makes an official debut at the Daytona 24 Hours this month.
