If you’re intrigued by the prospect of the greatest off-road race in the world coming to PC and consoles in October 2022, then check out the new Dakar Desert Rally gameplay overview trailer shared by developers Saber Porto and publishers Saber Interactive.
We’ve previously shared the release date and some of the details, along with the list of officially supported wheels and pedals. And having previously attempted the challenge of recreating the rally in Dakar 18 as BigMoon Entertainment, the benefit of that experience and three further years of development could result in a much more enjoyable game.
Obviously any video will focus on the graphics, which look pretty good. But what will be interesting is how the scenery and weather impact your experience of racing. And if Saber Porto have captured the physics and handling in a way that’s accessible and enjoyable, but allows for finer techniques and details.
That seems to be the aim, with the three modes available offer Sport, Professional and Simulation options. The easiest choice includes more casual navigation options visible beacrons, repositioning, and easier competitors along with autosaving at each waypoint. Whereas Simulation will prevent you from saving during a race, making the risk and reward calculations much more challenging.

With 20,000 square kilometres of terrain and dynamic weather, there’s going to be plenty to explore and revisit for a different experience, even if online multiplayer is limited to four people.
Dakar Desert Rally is available for the PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via the Microsoft Store, and the PS4 and PS5 via the PlayStation Store. You can also find physical copies via Game or Amazon. It’s released on October 4th, 2022, and pre-orders unlock the exclusive Audi RS Q e-tron.
And you can keep up with all the latest Dakar Desert Rally news, updates, DLC and more, here. Along with checking out the list of wheels officially supported by the game.
