The trend for retro arcade racers continues with Sunrise GP announced for the Nintendo Switch and a planned release date in 2022.
It’s being developed by Garage 5 for publication by Gamedust with a cartoon-style aesthetic to try and attract drivers from other games. Game modes include the single-player Sunrise GP campaign, involving a series of Grand Prix at what’s described as a ‘plethora’ or tracks in different parts of the world.
But you’ll also be able to try and quick race, challenge or split-screen local multiplayer mode for up to four people. And it will include an in-game photo mode, which could be interesting, depending on what shots and effects it offers.
Not much else has been revealed about Sunrise GP yet, aside from the fact that each vehicle will handle differently, as you might have already assumed.
There’s also not much info about Garage 5 easily found, but Gamedust is a Polish studio based in Poznan who tend to focus on VR games, with the most closely-related driving experience coming from Best Forklift Operator, due out for the PC this month.
Graphically, Sunrise GP looks like it could be fun, although we’ll have to wait and see what the handling and gameplay offer closer to release. And given the current packed schedule of arcade racers seemingly in production or recently released, it’ll need to stand out in an increasingly-crowded market.
You’ll be able to find all the latest Sunrise GP news, updates and more, here. And we’d guess it’ll probably arrive on the Nintendo eShop when it’s released some time in 2022.
