One of the most popular tracks for motorcycle racers, and a recent addition to the DTM calendar, TT Circuit Assen is coming soon to RaceRoom. It follows the recent release of Nogaro as another new venue for the racing sim.
Opened in 1955, and using around a third of an original street circuit which had hosted the Dutch TT since 1926, the layout was originally 4.7 miles of fast and sweeping bends. Following upgrades and redesigns, it’s now 2.8 miles long but still features famous corners including Strubben, Ruskenhoek, Ramshoek, and the final chicance which has led to a number of memorable motorsport moments.
It’s an exciting new addition to the RaceRoom track list as the circuit has a fairly unique character and history. It’s the longest-running host of motorcycle grand prix, with the winners list of the Dutch TT across various clases including Angel Nieto, Giacomo Agostini, Valentino Rossi, Jim Redman, Mike Hailwood, Mick Doohan, Marc Marquez and more.
Since 1992 it has also hosted World Superbikes, with Carl Fogarty winning races at the venue every year from 1993 until 1999, and Jonathan Rea getting at least one win since 2010 (except for 2013 and 2019). As a result, it’s a popular circuit for British motorcyle fans to visit, as well as with Dutch supporters.
Four wheeled motorsport includes DTM, GT3, W Series, TCR Touring Cars, Superleague and BOSS GP. The motorcycle layout has a more gradual right hand sweep for Ruskenhoek, but is otherwise pretty much identical to the GP circuit.
Apparently developed is in the final stages, and the track will be coming to RaceRoom soon, with a preview video showing DTM Trophy and Esports driver Moritz Lohner taking a lap of the track.
