Fancy a new take on post-apocalyptic vehicular destruction? Then you might be intrigued to lean that RC car combat game KEO arrives in September 2021, with a Steam Early Access release for the PC.
The pre-release information promises a thrilling and fast-paced game of multiplayer vehicle combat, as humanity uses radio controlled vehicles in a new sport, with essential resources provides a reward for survival. Apparently in 2054, a nuclear apocalypse meant everyone needs to pilot the cars from settlements below ground to stay safe, and that’s evolved into a 3 on 3 team battle.
There are three types of vehicle, with the Stryker built for damage, the Juggernaut for defence and the Specialist for utility, with two hybrid models of each making for nine vehicle choices in total. Defeat opposing teams, earn currency, and then spend it on new weapons and components to optimise your loadout. For the Steam Early Access launch, you’ll get to choose Deathmatch and Domination game modes.
It’s developed by Portuguese developers Redcatpig as their debut project, and comes via Digital Matters Publishing. Looking at the images and trailer, it certainly looks alright so far. More content, including maps, vehicles and game modes are planned for release during early access, along with rankings and spectator modes.
The biggest challenge for KEO is likely to be building and retaining a critical mass of online players. Post-apocalpytic car combat games have been around for a while, and it’ll need to be significantly different from existing free-to-play options like Crossout. Especially as it will cost $19.99 to download during the Early Access period.
But given that previous titles around a similar theme all have various flaws in one way or another, it could well be worth checking out when RC car combat game KEO arrives in September 2021. You can wishlist it via Steam now, and register for any pre-release playtesting. And keep up with all the latest KEO news, updates and DLC, here.
