Rallycross and Pro Lite truck sim racers will an easier time progressing in a new iRacing Dirt Road Ladder for 2021 Season 3. Which means it’ll be possible to actually earn an A Class license in Dirt Road for the first time, and also includes a new car which will be free to all iRacing subscribers.
From the new season in June, Rookie drivers will have access to the lower power Volkswagen Beetle Lite which will be added to the sim racing service as a free car for all subscribers. And while that series runs with a fixed set-up, an open D class series will also use the same car.
You’ll then move up to C Class, and the fixed Rallycross cars, with the open set-up events becoming available at B Class. For the Pro Lite trucks, you’ll start with the fixed Pro 2 Lite, with D Class offering the fixed Pro 4 Truck. That’s followed by the Pro 2 at C class, and the Pro 2 and Pro 4 Off-Road Series at B Class.
Getting a new free car is always good, but the VW Beetle Lite will arrive alongside the Formula Vee, which is also being provided for nothing to power a new Rookie open wheel road series. And the new ladder means it should be a lot more simple to understand how to progress, which cars you will need next, and how to potentially get an A Class Dirt Road license for the first time.
Hopefully it’ll increase interest in Rallycross and Pro Trucks, and the VW Beetle Lite should be a better introduction for anyone new to racing on a combination of tarmac and dirt. Especially when you start dealing with jumps for the first time.
