You’d expect some quick fixes to be available following the big Season 2 update. But in a bit of a surprise we’ve seen iRacing 2021 Season 2 Hotfix 1 and the McLaren 570s GT4 both arrive for the sim racing service. And the 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 is certainly a nice unexpected extra.
The McLaren joins the existing BMW M4 GT4 and Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR on iRacing to add an additional option across all the eligible series. So we’d imagine it might pop up in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, for example. Along with the Nurburgring Endurance Series. And as iRacing expands the GT4 class alongside the larger GT3s, it’s possible some new series might arrive in the near future.
Along with the McLaren 570s GT4, the iRacing 2021 Season 2 Hotfix also brings minor adjustments for a range of cars, mainly focused on the GTE class, plus some tweaks to the new Hockenheimring track.

There’s only one sour note heading into Season 2 of 2021, and that’s a decision by iRacing to limit all Sim Lab Production Car Challenge races to 25 minutes. While I can understand that changing fuel amounts and pit stops confused some new D class racers jumping into the series for the first time, it’s also one of the reasons I recently suggested it was the best series on iRacing, and many more experienced drivers stuck with it.
