Studio 397 released some balancing changes to the GTE class at the start of January, 2021. And now a big rFactor 2 GT3 Balance of Performance update has been released
It covers a total of 13 cars including both the 2018 and 2019 Audi R8 GT3, and the 2017 and 2020 Bentley Continental GT3. Along with the specific changes to each car, Studio 397 have also looked at some changes to the class as a whole in the run up to Season 3 of the GT Pro Series, which starts on March 8th, 2021.
Areas tackled across the GT3 field include the aerodynamic loss behaviour when you’re following another car in the slipstream, and also the potential for excessive rotation of the car through corners by sliding all four tyres. And there have been adjustments to the yaw aero and rear diffuser which should help to make all the cars more stable and smoother to drive, and to reduce the times you encounter snap oversteer if the car bottoms out on the track.
That should all make the GT3 class more accessible and fun to drive. And will hopefully also encourage more drafting and overtaking. The Balance of Performance changes are also explicitly being introduced to reduce the dominance of the Calloway C7 GT3-R from the last season of the GT Pro Series, but without removing the individual characteristics of each car choice.
As with any BOP update, the aim is that each car should still have different strengths and weaknesses, but you have a reasonable chance of winning whichever make or model you choose to race with.
