Electro Ride: The Neon Racing is set to be released on the Nintendo Switch via the eShop on November 27th, 2020. The arcade racing game has been available for the PC since July, and has a fairly unique look.
Created by Sylwester Osik, the cars and city circuits are modelled on those you’d find in the 20th Century Eastern Bloc. So you can see references to Warsaw, East Berlin, Prague, Sofia and Moscow, with the vehicles inspired by what you’d see people driving around those places. But in an alternative neon world.
There’s a total of 21 different cars included in the game, along with 20 circuits.
“Electro Ride is a neon racer full of vivid colours, high speeds and colour-sensitive nitro stripes. While it is, of course, a very arcade game, physics also plays an important role. Each car has a slightly different feel, and sometimes it is necessary to hit the brakes. The game is set in an alternative world, which combines the grey reality of 20th century Middle-Eastern European countries with retro-futuristic neon madness” – said Sylwester Osik, the creator of the game.
The conversion to Nintendo Switch is being handled by Ultimate Games S.A, and includes a variety of game modes. There’s a story mode which takes around four hours to complete on easy difficulty, asking you to compete in various types of races with occasional boss challenges.
The retro futuristic arcade racer also features local split screen multiplayer, time attack, last man standing and ghost race modes.
“The game will appeal to, among others, fans of racers in the style of Horizon Chase Turbo, OutDrive or Neon Drive. Electro Ride: The Neon Racing is, however, a completely unique proposition, with an unprecedented retro-futuristic vision of reality. The racer’s style and feel has been additionally amplified by the original synthwave soundtrack composed by Maciej Kulesza, who is also working on, among others, the music for Shadow Warrior 3” – added Sylwester Osik.
