Codemasters are going to be busy. Along with the release of DIRT 5 in October, we’ve now seen DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series Season 2 announced with a test in an FIA eRX2 championship car for the rallycross winner, and a $20,000 prize pool across rallying and rallycross.
The competition will begin with online qualification from August 25th, 2020 across PC, Xbox One and PS4 editions of DiRT Rally 2.0. Anyone who takes part in the qualifiers will receive a free Ford Fiesta R5 MkII in-game, which will arrive alongside DiRT Rally 2.0 update 1.16 at the start of October, 2020.
Similar to the first season, there will be a $10,000 prize pool for the separate rally and rallycross championships. There will be three stages, each containing two events, and a livestreamed qualifying final.
Get through that, and you’ll compete in semi finals taking place in December, before being invited to the DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series Season 2 final which takes place at the Autosport International Show, held at the Birmingham NEC on January 16th, 2021.
Ross Gowing, Game Director of DiRT Rally 2.0 at Codemasters said:
“The DiRT Rally 2.0 World Series surpassed our expectations. We knew there was an appetite, but we didn’t expect the vast level of participation and engagement. Now we get to do it all over again with a bigger event and even more prize money. We are also delighted to reward players with the in-game Ford Fiesta R5 MKII and hope this is an added incentive for players of all levels to get involved.”
