Reiza Studios might have announced the release of the Silverstone pack has been pushed back a couple of days. But this Automobilista 2 Silverstone 1991 VR preview video shows that the various versions of the Northamptonshire circuit aren’t far from complete.
The Silverstone Pack for Automobilista 2 will include the 1975, 1991, 2001 and current 2019 layouts for the home of the British Grand Prix over recent years. They’ve chosen to show the 1991 configuration in the video as it’s the first layout to include the sequence of Maggots, Becketts and Chapel, but also had several parts which don’t still exist today.
The 1991 season was the height of Mansell-mania, as the British driver and his Williams-Renault FW14 proved the main challenges to the Honda Malboro McLaren MP4/6 of Ayrton Senna. And while it was the last season for multiple champion Nelson Piquet, there were also debuts for Michael Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen.
The 1991 British Grand Prix is remembered for Nigel Mansell not only taking pole and victory, but also stopping during his victory lap to pick up the stranded Ayrton Senna, whose McLaren ran out of fuel on the last lap.
The Silverstone Pack will be the second DLC available for Automobilista 2, following the previous Hockenheimring Pack which is available for £7.99. More of the upcoming content, including the Norburgring and various new cars, were revealed in the AMS2 July development update.
