There’s a new BMW M4 GT4 Livery Competition running until 5th August 2020. And the winner doesn’t just get a cash prize, but their design will also be used on a real DTM Trophy racing car, and be made available to all players in iRacing.
BMW Motorsport has organised the competition, which is open to everyone, as you don’t need to actually play iRacing to submit an entry. You just need to download the templates for the iRacing BMW M4 GT4 here, and then upload your finished design here.
The BMW M4 GT4 livery competition uses the iRacing replica of the BMW M Customer Racing Car, which was added to the service in June, and has been proving popular. BMW even held a track day and practice race for real world drivers from their Customer Racing teams using the car and sim racing service.
All of the BMW M4 GT4 livery competition entries will be judged by Chinese multimedia artist Cao Fei, Head of Design at BMW Motorsport Michael Scully, and BMW works driver Bruno Spengler, along with online voting.
Rudolf Dittrich, General Manager BMW Motorsport Vehicle Development and initiator of the competition, said “I am very excited to see which design will end up winning. I’m really looking forward to the creative submissions from the sim racing community, which shares our love for both motorsport worlds – the virtual one and the real one. We also want to use this to support artists during these difficult times. Having Cao Fei, who designed the innovative BMW M6 GT3 Art Car, on the jury shows just how important this project is to us.”
Take first prize, and you’ll win $3,000 dollars. Your design will be available to anyone driving the BMW M4 GT4 in iRacing, and it will be turned into a wrap which will be used by one of the BMW M4 GT4s competing in the DTM Trophy at the final round on November 7-8th, 2020 at the Hockenheim circuit.
There will also be two runners-up prizes. Second place gets $2,000 and third place wins $1,000.
Which makes the BMW M4 GT4 Livery Competition worth checking out if you’re an experienced racing game livery designer, or you want to give it a try for the first time.
